SANFL season under way

West Adelaide plays its first game of the 2012 SANFL season tonight against South Adelaide at Noarlunga.

I won't be going, because my wife has the car tonight and it's not feasible to get down there on public transport.

There's always a buzz around the start of a new season and this year is no exception. The Bloods appear to have recruited well and Crows young gun Brad Crouch will line up with the club all year, which is a massive bonus.

I'm not reading too much into practice match form, which was mixed, but the thumping by Port Adelaide doesn't look too bad now after the Magpies crushed Woodville-West Torrens last night at Thebarton.

Go Bloods!

Good start to recruiting for 2012

It's good news that West Adelaide has signed delisted AFL players Chris Schmidt, Tyson Slattery and Taite Silverlock to multi-year deals.

I thought Schmidt was unlucky to be cut from the Crows, but it will be great to have him full time at Richmond Oval.

Slattery will be handy in defence following the loss of Steven Morris, while Silverlock will strengthen the midfield.

The Bloods really struggled this year to move the ball quickly through the middle. A good ruckman is also desperately needed to give first use of the ball.
